When a participant shows No audio, they are not connected to the meeting audio. They can't hear anyone, and nobody can hear them. If you hover over the label, Demodesk shows: This participant can't be heard or hear you.
You see it in two places:
- In the participant list (click Meeting in the bottom bar), as No audio with a crossed-out speaker icon next to the name.
- On the participant's video tile, as a crossed-out speaker icon next to the name.
This usually happens when someone chose Turn off audio on the join screen, or when their browser couldn't reach their microphone.
💡 Only the participant can connect their own audio. As a host, clicking the microphone next to someone's name mutes or unmutes them, but it does not connect them. Send them the steps below.
Connect with your computer audio
- Click the red, crossed-out microphone button in the bottom bar. This opens Audio video settings.
- Click Connect.
- When it worked, the dialog shows Connected and the No audio label disappears.
If you don't see Connect, or connecting fails, your browser probably has no access to your microphone. Follow Manage audio and video system settings, or dial in by phone instead.
Dial in by phone
You can also join the meeting audio with your phone. There are two ways, and they look different in the meeting:
From the join screen (recommended). Click Having trouble? and choose Dial-in with phone. You call with your personal code, so Demodesk links the call to your name. You appear once in the participant list, and the No audio label disappears.
During the meeting. Click More in the bottom bar and then Dial-in with phone. You can also click Meeting in the bottom bar and then Dial-in next to the meeting link. This call joins with the meeting's code, so it shows up as an extra participant named after your phone number. Everyone can hear you on the phone, but your name keeps the No audio label.
Check which countries have a dial-in number in List of countries supported for phone conferencing.
Still no audio?
Reload the page and try again. If that doesn't help, go through Audio & video troubleshooting.
